How many miles did you all put in over the weekend?
I got in a total of 16 miles.
It was a strange weekend for me. 1st time in a long time I cut a run short. 5 Mile trail run on Saturday that I cut short at the 2 mile mark. The trail was so sloppy, I couldn’t keep any footing and was falling all over the place.
On Sunday, I put in a 14 mile run that helped me realize a few things:
1. I can’t run w/ a handheld bottle. It makes me feel restricted in my movement.
2. I think that a more minimalistic shoe is for me as the traditional cushioned shoe made my legs feel weighted down. The only thing the shoes did do well was not make me sore after that run and I feel pretty good this morning after the pavement pounding.
3. Electrolyte drinks and gels do not go together well. As I only took one gel prior to my run, and drank Powerade during the run, it made my stomach heavy and made me feel BLAH!!! Definitely will have to do some more experimenting with what works best for my long runs, gel/water mixtures, or drinking electrolyte drinks only during the run to stay hydrated.
