It has been a few months now since I started sharing reviews with you, articles about running and training, and what seems to be the most popular, my page with inspiration and motivation posters and quotes. I’ve only let in little glimpses about myself and my personal life, but that is all about to change as I myself have my own new personal motivation, my 5-year old son.
Just this past week, my youngest was diagnosed with having ADHD (Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder). As he is still a very healthy and happy little boy, it still hit me hard on the inside that my little boy is struggling with things in his everyday life both at home and in his learning at school. Until this past week, I knew little about the disorder other than just little facts, but upon talking to the doctor, I have a better understanding of things, but know I have tons to learn.
The thing that has made it hard for me is knowing that on a daily basis, my little boy has to take medication to help him be attentive, and for a parent, it is a hard pill to swallow, but I know it is what is best for him to keep up with everyday living and make things as normal as possible for him.
With this new motivation I have, I want to use it to its fullest advantage and help CHADD with their education of ADHD, and I want to be someone they can use to be a billboard in the cause to help find a cure for this disorder. I know that I need to educate myself about this disorder, but along the way, I can help educate others. I want to help raise funds for CHADD, and my son has given me that motivation.
Now that I do have a new-found reason to really get after things, all of my time, energy, and resources will be geared towards making my son’s life as normal as possible everyday, and I’ll be putting my needs on the back-burner as needed. I know that there are people out there that are dealing with similar issues, and will lend a supportive shoulder or helping hand with dealing with this issue.
I’m hoping all of my followers will lend a helping hand as well. Without you, I would have no avenue to spread this word.
I’ve been in contact with the people with CHADD about teaming up with them during running events and I know they are currently in the midst of coming up with a campaign for runners. If they happen to read this, I so much want to be a part of their campaign.
I know some of what I say may sound naive, but again, I’m just learning about all this stuff myself.
You will now find more post from me on how my son is doing, how my efforts are going, and in advance, I thank you all for your support. It means the world to me.
My son is my hero and he is my motivation!!! I love you Blake!!!!
