Running4theMasses is back after a weekend break and is updated for 9.10.12.
So, the weekend has come and gone. Yesterday marks exactly 2 weeks until my fate is determined. Will I be considered a marathon runner, or will I have a setback in my quest for 26.2? I know the answer to this, and ready for my next challenge, the Ultra.
So, with 2 weeks left to September 23, my runs do get shorter, but I seem to be getting stronger with each run. I did, however, have a slight setback yesterday, but am not too concerned about it since I feel better, or somewhat better today.
I love my trail runs, and yesterday I hit the @GreatGoats 50K race trail for a run with a couple of GOATZ, and about 6 miles in, my right Achilles and calf started to hurt. Every step I took, especially up a hill, the just kept stretching and straining with every step. I have a good idea of why this happen (new shoes with lots of traction), and really pushing the hills a little more than I should have. I was able to finish the run, and don’t they always say that your pace running on the trails is supposed to be slower than running on the road? Well, I guess I don’t see that happening for me right now as I’m just slightly slower on the trail than the road. I’ll have to fix that by either really pushing my road pace now, or slowing my trail pace. Anyways, I feel great, and I’m sure this little strain I have going on will be of no concern come the 23rd or for that matter the 16th as I run a 10K race.
I have to thank a new company for making such a great #Workout Mode formula, and some long-standing companies in my marathon preparation. I highly recommend that you all check out @Synergenics. I’ve been using their product for about 2 weeks now, and I’ve never felt better on my runs. My endurance has felt in check (even when I can’t breath due to these darn allergies), my body has felt great during runs (except this minor hiccup from yesterday), and my body has been able to recover much quicker afterwards. I have to say that the #Workout Mode is a big part of that. No more gooey messy gels or bad aftertaste, and definitely no more possibility of any stomach issued from gels. Now, with the use of the Synergenics product, the addition of @Nuunhydration to my runs, the use of my @Mizunorunning shoes, and the always present @UDhydrates Ridgeline pack, I’m well on my way to my best run yet in 2 weeks.
Today, is a great day as well as I received my new @Knucklelights in the mail. I can’t wait to get these on my knuckles and out for a run. These look great and now, running at anytime of day should be of no concern.
Check out my run from Sunday here:
