Running4theMasses is back from the weekend, and updated for your reading enjoyment.
So, the cold weather is really starting to hit us. Man, there were some points this weekend that it was darn right cold. Thank goodness for warm weather running clothes!!!! I hope my new running vest gets here really soon. It will come in handy!!!!
This past week, I was finally able to log in some meaningful miles, and got in just shy of 26 for the week. Still feeling a little sluggish, it was good to try to get things worked out.
I was able to get a vast majority of those miles this past weekend with a just shy of 6.5 mile run on Saturday, and on Sunday, I ran the Susan Komen Race for the Cure 5K, and got in a just shy of 9 mile run in the afternoon.
Why is it that when I run 2 times in one day, the 2nd run just seems to be almost effortless at times? This Sunday, in the evening, I took out to the trails again (most of my runs these days consist of this), and conquered the hills out at Tranquility. Most of the run felt pretty effortless, and as I went, it got faster as far as pace. I know they say that trail running pace is usually slower than road pace, but for some reason, during my training, that just hasn’t been the case. Sort of scares me as we move forward to the @GreatGoats 50K race in a few weeks. Don’t want to burn myself out too early and preserve myself for the end. I’ll take some of what I learned during my marathon to heart as to really pace myself a lot better early on.
I’m so happy that when I showed up at my office today, I had a package waiting there for me from @Nuunhydration and my new banana electrolyte tablets. I had to pop one open, and they taste amazing. Might be my favorite flavor yet!!!!
I’ve got to give big props to @Synergenics again, and their Workout Mode supplement. I know I go on and on about this stuff, but without it, I wouldn’t continue to recover as quick as I do after workouts, and I definitely wouldn’t be getting through my workouts the way I do. This stuff is truly been amazing and my savior lately.
Big props to my marathon partner, Ryan Dixon, for finishing his 2nd marathon in 3 weeks, by running the Chicago Marathon this past weekend. He will complete his journey of 3 marathons in 4 weeks this weekend down in Kansas City. Best of luck brother!!!! Our venture isn’t over, and we are making plans for the 2014 Chicago Marathon!!!!
If anyone at @MizunoRunning reads this, I’m so happy to be part of the Mizuno family, and appreciate all you have done for me. My gratitude to you will never waver, and I look forward to doing more for Mizuno in the future. I’ve PR’d in your shoes, and run my 1st marathon with your shoes, and I really look forward to putting these shoes on my feet in the near future, and would love to run in them in my 50K. These would absolutely complete my collection:
